Sammy's Legacy of Life

ree

We are all called to love and help others. Sammy has that spirit of love, and is in Sammy's heart and DNA. Because of Sammy's life, she was able to literally help save lives. Her organs were donated to four recipients - three in Hawaii and one in Washington (state). Here are the profiles of those who she loved on.

1) 41 year-old man in Hawaii, married with children. He loves to play SOCCER (Sammy's fav) with his children. Because of Sam, he no longer needs shots or dialysis to treat his kidney disease. He is thankful for a second chance at life.

2) 40 year-old woman in Hawaii, married with children. Because of Sam, he no longer needs dialysis. She no longer needs dialysis and allows her to have a normal life again.

3) 53 year-old man in Hawaii, married with children. He is a retired Honolulu Police Department Captain. Sammy must be "stoked" that she is helping a policeman! My wife and I met with him and his wife already! He is so grateful for Sammy and how she helped him after he was in such bad shape. She would have loved the cookies his wife baked for us.

4) 40 year-old woman, a single mom in Washington state. Because of Sam, we are told she can breathe easier now. She loves being a mom, and enjoys watercolor painting! She would have gotten along with Sammy for sure!

On Christmas Day 2019, Sammy's sisters Joanna, Jessica, and her mom and dad wrote a letter to each of the recipients, wishing them well. We have heard from three of the four expressing their gratitude after they have recovered from their surgeries and doing well. We pray that the fourth person is doing well and staying healthy. As far as I'm concerned, they are "ohana" to us and they are forever connected to us. I am so proud of her! She is the only true hero I have personally known on this earth.
